JOHN MATTHEWS-RAMONES
Plantsman

Plantsman:
As far back as the mid-1800’s the “Gardener's Chronicle” referenced plantsman as someone who possesses exceptional knowledge of plants, often through practical experience and study. “Plantsman” has historically been used as a gender neutral term and continues as such today.
Plantsmen are typically very knowledgeable about a wide variety of plant species, their characteristics, habitats, and cultivation requirements. They may collect and grow plants for personal enjoyment, conservation efforts, or as part of professional work in fields such as horticulture, botany, landscaping, or agriculture. Being a plantsman involves a passion for plants and a dedication to understanding and nurturing them.
